Vitamin D3 is crucial for the Health of Mother & Child

Studies reveal that 89% of Pakistani women are Vitamin D3 deficient with 45% being severely deficient having blood levels equal to or less than 10 ng/ml.
Optimum blood levels of Vitamin D3 (50-80 ng/ml) reduce complications like pregnancy-induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia), gestational diabetes, bacterial vaginal infections, preterm birth, caesarean section and pelvic floor disorders in the pregnant mother.2-4 It contributes to improving birth weight and preventing weak bones & lower respiratory tract infections in the newborn. It also appears that sufficient Vitamin D3 in the child may decrease the risk of health problems later in life such as schizophrenia, brain tumors, asthma, mental retardation and autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes.2
